A family business since 1907.
In 1907, Max and Bertha Heumann, my great-grandparents, founded a traditional bakery in Soultz-sous-Forêts. Their son Paul rebuilt the bakery in 1945, which had been completely destroyed during the 2nd World War.
Paul was looking for a complementary activity to his bakery; he had the opportunity to take over a matzo factory which he set up at the back of his bakery at the end of the 1940s. This was the beginning…
Unfortunately, Paul died suddenly in 1972. His son (my father), Guy Heumann (3rd generation) and his wife Simone took over the company and strongly developed exports thanks to matzos. In 1985, the Heumanns were awarded the Grand Prix National de l’Exportation Artisanale.
In 2007, I, Isabelle Heumann (4th generation, great-granddaughter of the founder) took over the management of the company after having spent 10 years in various positions within the company.
This desire to develop and create, passed on by the previous generations, has made its way!
In 2005, we created a Research & Development team, and that’s how we went from one recipe to nearly 80 recipes of unleavened bread today!
More than 70% of what we make is sold internationally!
